Wellington Faculty of Architecture and Design Innovation is celebrating their award winning students in an on-campus exhibition from April 27th - May 7th 2022. 

Celebrate our multi-talented students from Wellington School of Architecture and School of Design Innovation, with works ranging from 3D printed models, videos, digital media and posters. 

A collection designed for all bodies, not just all sizes and questions how creating genderless clothing does not lack in silhouette, colour, style and interest. With a direction that fashion is for all, the collection titled ‘Impartial’ challenges our perception of self-expression whilst moving away from traditional labels and stereotypes, to allow for the wearer to create their own freedom and choose their own path through fashion.

People recovering from stroke who have upper limb problems aren’t fully adhering to their rehabilitation exercises and how clinicians aren’t able to keep up to date with their patient’s progress. As a part of a smart wearable stroke rehabilitation system, this project developed an intuitive app for clinicians to track progress and interact with patients.

Our students are constantly exploring their auahatanga — creativity, to develop and produce works engaging with concepts of Architecture and Design Innovation. The End of Year Exhibition is a showcase of the mahi, skill and talent that goes into creating these works.

Te Wāhanga Waihanga-Hoahoa—Wellington Faculty of Architecture and Design Innovation's annual End of Year Exhibition celebrates students and their accomplishments, and shines a light on the future Designers, Architects and creatives of Aotearoa. Work from all our Design Innovation and Architectural studies courses are on display. This is showcase of first year work, right up to PhD, brings the Te Aro Atrium to life with engaging visual, multi media and physical works enabling an experience that connects with all year levels and majors.

Wellington Zinefest returns to the Faculty of Architecture and Design Innovation's Te Aro Campus for their annual mid-year market, with a brand-new theme: Zines Only

Zine Market

Te Aro Campus is proud to host Wellington Zinefest's winter market. For this particular market, stallholders are asked to exclusively sell or trade zines - no other items allowed.

The aim is to experiment with the market format and keep things new and interesting. For example, the 2021 Winter Zine Market had a $5 Price Limit for all items. In 2020 we ran Newbies Market, which was only open to new or first-time stallholders.

These themes aren't permanent changes, and are only intended for individual markets.

The market will open to the public with 'accessibility hour', which runs from 11am - 12pm.

This is a chance for any visitors who, for whatever reason, can't attend when our markets are crowded. We'll have no music and try to maintain a low-stimulation environment.


There will also be a Community Table, which is a free stall where one of the Zinfest volunteers will sell other people's zines on their behalf. Generally this is for people who can't, or don't want to, sell their zines themselves. Zine makers can submit their zines to sell on this stall.

Experience - Te Aro Window Gallery exhibition

#### 30 under 30 Exhibition Series

2022's second 30/30 exhibitor is former Architecture graduate Liam Sheehan. The Wellington School of Architecture Alumni’s work uses the tools of Virtual Reality to create symbiotic environments that engage the human thermosensory (ability to feel temperature changes), and visual and auditory systems to understand the relationship between our bodies and the spaces we inhabit.

Experience’ began for Liam with a love for the weightless sensory experience of swimming. His research took that affinity and started to question how multi-sensory experiences affect the human perception of space and how we can experience the medium of space parallel to the way we experience the medium of movement, propulsion and immersion in water.

Experience breaks down the human sensory system to better understand our bodies' connection with space itself. Through the application of coding, architectural design methods and the constantly expanded wealth of knowledge about the sensory system, Liam began to develop the final design which aimed to create a unique meditative sensory experience; in which the qualities of the virtual space itself began to reveal themselves.

Liam's work will be in the Te Aro window gallery from April 1st - 20th.
